DevBhumi Honey
Apis cerana is the native bee species of Uttrakhand being reared by local people from ancient times. Uttrakhand hills are peculiar for its richness in floral biodiversity including a variety of medicinal and aromatic plants in addition to cultivated agricultural crops. Apis cerana collects nectar from flowers of all these plants to prepare honey with added medicinal properties.
Further, this area is completely free from any kind of chemical pollution, as the agricultural practices are mostly organic. Thus the honey produced is free from any kind of chemical contamination unlike other agriculturally developed areas where agro-chemicals are used in large quantities. This honey has already been certified as Organic by Uttarakhand State Organic Certification Agency (USOCA). DNPPCL is providing technical inputs to the community to enhance production and productivity through eco-friendly means to get organic produce.

Honey Processing:
The honey is processed in such a way that all the natural properties are retained. Any such treatment is avoided which may denature the plant and bee enzymes, vitamins and all other crucial heat liable components of the honey. The following specifications are maintained in the processed honey.

Honey Production and Processing Capacities:
Production:
Devbhumi is operating its bee keeping program in the four districts of Rudraprayag, Chamoli Uttarkashi and Tehari. In addition, we are working through a host of partner organizations in all the districts of Uttarakhand.
USOCA has registered our farmers for Organic production in the above mentioned districts. The average production per hive per annum is 10 kg. On an average each farmer has 3-5 operational hives.
Taking the consolidated capacities, the production capacity for Organic Honey is approximately 100 MT per annum.
Processing:
We are equipped with an ultra modern processing facility at Mohabbewala Industrial Area (Subhash Nagar), Dehradun with its main features as follows:
1) Processing capacity of 2MT per day (single shift)
2) Moisture reduction facility
3) In-house testing laboratory
4) Storage capacity of 20 MT
5) Round the clock power back up
